Leah Procita-Costume Design and Technology Educator

My name is Leah Procita, and I am a passionate costume designer and technician who believes in bringing accessibility to all areas of theatre, especially in academia. I have taught Costume Design and other technical theatre classes at the university level for over two years, and have taught costume classes for younger theatre artists (ranging from ages 3-18) for over 10 years. I am passionate about historical costuming, and in my spare time have created a number of historical hand-sewing projects specifically within 18th century women’s fashion. As a woman with an invisible disability, I have worked hard to overcome accessibility issues within academic theatre, as well as advocate for my disabled students and peers to create an accommodating and welcoming environment for all.
