Leah Procita-Costume Design and Technology Educator
My name is Leah Procita, and I am a passionate costume technician, designer, and educator who believes in bringing accessibility to all areas of theatre, especially in academia. I have taught Costume Design, sewing technology, and technical theatre classes for 6 years, and have taught costume classes for younger theatre artists (ranging from ages 3-18) for over 10 years. I am passionate about historical costuming, and in my spare time have created a number of historical hand-sewing projects specifically within 18th century women’s fashion. As a woman with an invisible disability, I have worked hard to overcome accessibility issues within academic theatre, as well as advocate for my disabled students and peers to create an accommodating and welcoming environment for all.
